Ressel was a walk-on for the Missouri Tigers in 2007. He played in one game in 2008, before his breakout season in 2009, where he earned 1st-Team All-American honors. That season, he made 26-of-27 field goals, and 39-of-39 PATs, setting a new single-season record for the NCAA best combined kick accuracy (98.5%). He also was the NCAA leader in field goal percentage (13 or more attempts) in 2009 with 96.3% field goals converted. In the 2009 Border Showdown game, Ressel kicked the game-winning field goal as time expired. In his 2010 season, Ressel hit 17-of-19 field goals and 45-of-47 PATs, and was a Lou Groza Award Semifinalist, as he also was in 2009.[2]
